Story has begun many years ago, from connection between father and son. Hardwork at camping, creating community around watersports has brought opportunity to enjoy cars. When father shows You a Porsche world, there is no other way, then to sank into. So Tadeusz, Chałupy 6 CEO, and Hel Riders originator has gained Porsche vibes from earliest age. Growing on that passion combined with everyday sea experience get’s You those ideas mixed together. When You have a dream Porsche at garage already, mind opens wider and ideas are getting bigger. During dynamic grow of community Hel Riders 928 Surfari idea has arrived.
Unique, unusual and almost unpossible to create – that trio sounded like encouragement to Hel Riders team, who’s decided to create unique Surfcar. It has to be Porsche available to overlanding, also to be perfect beach crowler and surftaxi any time swell will arrive.
How to get it? Straight way up on road of difficulties. Start is great. We’ve got vintage eight cylinders, v-shaped engine from Porsche. Who’s heard this 80s V8, know exactly what we’re talking about. Power has been no issue. But how to adjust, gearbox, differential, suspension and whole set needed to closen 928 to beach buggy? That was totally another story. Here arrived friend and Hel Riders team member – Tomasz Staniszewski.
Technical and rally genius who’s finished Classic Dakar Rally in builded by himself his Porsche 924. Tomasz has known project is ultra difficult and demanding, but he’s found solutions and get things done to achieve ultimate goal. Build 928 with Surfsoul.
Surfari is gathering of local talents, so visual effect is result of design effort from Lange & Lange. These twin brothers duo is connected with Chałupy 6 for decades, and they developed this vibe straight to this project. From raw idea to details like stripes, branding, roofrack, surf backpack and details inside Even vintage F.A. Porsche Design helmet has arrived onboard to complete the set. And here we go – sweetspot reached.
This story wouldn’t be true without surfboard. Our friendly shaper NAME from Polvo Surfboard has shaped unique one for 928 especially for Baltic waves. This board is wider and has unusual curve which helps at these short and quick swells. At every trip it has to be on top of 928 to truly serve its duty. Whenever we go, we’re always ready for waves behind 928 Surfari wheel.
When it grows from community, it gets into community. After premiere at Chałupy 6 camping on Hel Riders Festival we’ve decided to join our friends and family at Sylt’s Petro Surf. Story goes full circle, and We did completely on sand. We’ve gathered a Wolfpack and got on road. Sea by sea, sand by sand, and for the whole time – our team has been together. After 2 days on road Rømø has arrived at horizon. What a perfect place to give 928 a true test and connect with its natural environment. Whole Hel Riders team conected to Surfari project watching 928 rolling on beach has been one of greatest mutual automotive moments we’ve had together. Story goes on. Wait for next swell.
